Luciano Vistosi

Luciano Vistosi was born in Murano in 1931 and spent his childhood and most of his adolescence working for his family's oven, where he learned the techniques to discover the mood, colors, sounds and flavors of the ancient tradition of the artisans of master glass. After completing his studies, his career as an artist seems to be immediately marked by a strong vocation for experimental research. The fact of being left-handed forces him to reinvent the tools for working with glass. The search for absolute designs, the determination to put the quality of the materials first, followed by the style, and the belief that the drawings are only the starting point of a work that can follow several paths, give rise to the creation of his glass sculptures. Beginning in the sixties in which he held a series of individual exhibitions and has participated in exhibitions all over the world: from Venice to San Francisco, from Madrid and Cologne to Japan. In managing the family business , Vetreria Vistosi , which he led until 1984 , Luciano Vistosi made a fundamental contribution to its development by taking the brand beyond a conservative approach to design . He has designed a number of collections and his items are still manufactured today, also under the pseudonym Michael Rojo. Some of his works have recently been selected as unique and remarkable artistic representations of cars for the "Auto-mobile - a tratto that has changed life" exhibition held in Turin for the 100th anniversary of the ACI (Automobile Club Italiano).
