Gabriel Teixido

Gabriel Teixidó was born in 1947 in Barcelona, where he studied at the Escuela de Artes Aplicadas y Oficios Artísticos [Applied Arts and Artistic Crafts School] (1964-1969). He has worked with the Escola de Disseny i Art (EINA) [Design and Art School], and is a former member of the ADI-FAD Board. Teixidó is known for turning his ideas into lasting commercial successes, a talent that he often lends to his artistic training and his ability to spot unresolved problems and find foolproof solutions: "I'm interested in making useful designs, in giving people feel comfortable with them, so that they are useful." Teixidó works on his own, and makes austere designs, far from formal exhibitionism. His work has been recognized with two SIDI awards, a New Style award in 1995, and two Silver Delta awards.
