Formed in 1978, Luceplan consolidates the idea of three architects, Riccardo Sarfatti, Paolo Rizzatto and Sandra Severi wanted to consolidate the experience developed during his long standing collaboration with Gino Sarfatti, Arteluce founder. He was an experimenter and innovator in the sector of lighting fixtures. These are the noble roots, but the story that we want to relate does not follow a chronological sequence of events in the growth of the company, but rather records 'highlights' of the evolution. A history marked by constant factors well defined from the outset - experimentation, research and quality, a philosophy focused on creating 'decorative objects to the public' in general, and an attitude, a discreet refinement that never has been lost over the year. This is the mark of the left fitting of lighting which are not designed for the amazement of short duration, but to be the output natural of a continuous, permanent unit dedicated to the essence of each project, a meticulous attention to detail and constant improvement. The result of this constant experimentation which in turn implies specialized technological research.
Passion for design and business value, is a commitment by luceplan, both with a considerable investment in production - the new trademark Elementi di Luceplan, a line of technical, architectural lighting and contract that was formed in the year 2006 - and in marketing. Opened new international offices (Copenhagen joins New York, Paris and Berlin) and most own brand stores (there are three flagship store in Milan, New York and Paris, and close to 2,000 points of sale in the world).
In May 2010 Luceplan has become part of the Philips Lighting luminaires consumer company.
