Belux was founded in 1970 by Thomas Egloff. The company was based in the Swiss town of Gebensdorf and began with the sale of high quality lamps, but soon changed to the development and production of individual lighting solutions for public buildings. At the end of the 1970s, it established a partnership with Designer Hannes Wettstein, which resulted in the «Snodo» and «Ball» lamps. The development of design lamps became more and more a central activity in Belux. «Metro» - the first cable of the system of low-voltage pathway lighting in the world and remains Member range classic - followed in 1982.
