Marcello Furlan

Born in Venice in 1962 into a family from Murano, who owes his passion for blown glass to his father, a master glassmaker. In 1984, after having studied architecture for several years at the University of Venice, he began working in his family's glass business. During this period he was responsible for the design and development of new functionalities for decorative glass and objects. In 1998 he began his career as a lighting fixture designer, paralleling his other career as a freelance graphic artist in advertising. His research, which stems from the study of natural and organic elements, has reinterpreted the traditional, classic form of the Venetian chandelier in a contemporary vein, developing modern solutions that are increasingly free from convention.
