Uli Budde

Uli Budde (Bünde, Germany, 1978) Lives in Berlin and studied at the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences in Germany and at the Design Academy in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. He has worked as a freelance designer for various studios in the Netherlands including Jongeriuslab/Hella Jongerius, Baukje Trenning and Joost Grootens. In 2005, together with the Dutch designer Ivan Kasner, he founded the Officeoriginair studio.

Apart from this collaboration, Uli Budde has been working on his own since 2009 in Berlin, concentrating on projects related to furniture, tableware and lighting.

Uli Budde's work investigates everyday objects providing new thoughtful and functional solutions. His designs are easily understood and integrated into daily life with non-intrusive simplicity. In short, Budde objects have a strong poetic and graphic distinctive without losing sight of functionality.

Its clients include Royal VKB, Vertigo Bird, Marset and others. His projects with Officeoriginair have been awarded the Dutch Design Award, the Gio Award, two Red Dot Awards in 2012 and the Design Plus Award in 2014. In the years 2010 and 2011, he has also received the Faces of Design Award.
