Lluis Porqueras

Porqueras himself acknowledges that he began without really knowing what industrial design was. After taking some architecture courses and rehabilitating some farmhouses, in 1965 he founded Stoa, a pioneering company in Catalan design, which published Enric Franch lamps, among other things. In 1979, together with Jaume Vaquero, he founded the company Vapor, which produced simple and warm lamps, going against the technological trend of the time. “The things he did were very simple – states Lluís Porqueras -. Although the industrial process had 25 operations, the final result was of absolute simplicity, I was interested in extracting, extracting and extracting until leaving the essence of the useful and simple object.” In his own words, “over time, I have realized that I have been a very bad businessman. Fortunately, Marset became interested in what we did at Vapor and a large part of our catalog became part of his collection”. In addition to lamps for your company, it collaborates with other companies such as Mobles 114 or Santa&Cole. Subsequently, Porqueras works for Targetti for 3 years creating a collection of lamps. Among his designs, the Claris suspension lamp or the Finisterre pylon stand out, made in collaboration with Joan Gaspar. “I have always believed that the light inside a space has to be in the shadows, that there are contrasts with punctual lights – reflects Porqueras-. That is what creates well-being, serenity, your house has to be a refuge from the aggressive exterior of the city. The lamps are turned on for a few hours a day, the rest of the day they should maintain a certain discretion so that they don't bother you when they are off, that they only impose themselves when they are on... like fireflies. I am not interested in fashion, I have never made fashion lamps.”
